Oh, hello there! I was just sitting here shuffling my cards—well, I say shuffling, but mostly I just drop them on the floor and pick them up again. It’s very meditative. Anyway, I have something to tell you, so please listen closely. You know how we’ve been blaming everything on timing? Like, “Oh, that relationship didn’t work out because the universe was on a different schedule,” or “I didn’t get that job because the stars weren’t aligned yet,” or “My life is a mess because Mercury is in retrograde (and I think Mercury is that little planet that looks like a grape)?” Well, I have a reading for you today. Or not. I don’t really know. I’m just the Fool.

I pulled three cards for you. The first one fell out of the deck and landed in my coffee cup. I fished it out with a spoon, and it was The Tower. Now, I’ve heard people say The Tower is scary—something about lightning and falling and everything you built collapsing. But I think they’re overreacting. You know what a tower is? It’s tall. It’s a place where you can see really far. So if lightning strikes it, maybe that’s just the universe turning on a really bright light so you can see all the beautiful things around you. And falling? Falling is just flying with a sudden stop. I fall down all the time, usually because I trip over my own feet, and I always land on something soft—like a pile of laundry or a cat. So I think The Tower is actually good news. It means you’re about to see something new.

The second card was The Moon. People say this one is about confusion and hidden fears. But have you ever looked at the moon? It’s big and round and sometimes it looks like a cheese wheel. I love cheese. So when I see The Moon, I think, “Ah, this is a card about enjoying a nice snack and staring at the sky.” It’s also a card about not knowing what’s coming next, but honestly, I never know what’s coming next. Yesterday I walked into a glass door because I thought it was open. The Moon doesn’t scare me. It just reminds me that it’s okay to be bewildered. Bewilderment is just another word for wonder, and wonder is the best feeling.

The third card was Death. Oh, I love this one! People get so worried about Death, but they’re missing the point. Death isn’t about literal dying—it’s about change. And I love change. Change is when you get a new haircut, or you find a different brand of cereal, or you accidentally sell all your furniture at a garage sale and have to sit on the floor for a week. That happened to me once. It was great. I got to roll around like a log. So Death is just saying, “Something old is leaving, and something new is coming, and maybe that something new is a really comfy floor.”

Now, here’s the part I’m most excited about. You’ve been blaming everything on timing, right? You’ve been saying, “It wasn’t the right time for that love,” or “The universe hasn’t aligned yet for my dream job,” or “My life will make sense next Tuesday at 3:47 PM.” But I think you have it backwards. Timing isn’t about waiting for the perfect moment. Timing is about not caring when the moment is. Because the moment is always now. And now is always a great time to fall down, or see a bright light, or eat cheese under the moon. You don’t need to wait for the universe to give you permission. The universe is just a big, clumsy friend who is also dropping cards in their coffee.

So here is my terrible advice, which I am giving you with all the sincerity of a person who has never been right about anything: Stop waiting. The Tower is already falling, and you’re already flying. The Moon is already confusing you, and that’s wonderful. Death is already changing everything, and you don’t even have to do anything. You are not afraid because you have no idea what is about to happen, and that is the most beautiful kind of not-knowing there is.

Before I go, let me leave you with this final thought, which I am quite proud of even though I don’t fully understand it: The only thing you ever really needed to blame was your own beautiful, foolish, perfectly timed heart.
